New cardiac catheterization center launched in KSMC

Saudi Arabia, December 5, 2017

Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah launched the new Cardiac Catheterization Center at King Saud Medical City (KSMC) last Thursday. The center is fully equipped and active and has already done 90 surgeries since then.

Dr. Haitham Alfalah, CEO at KSMC, along with leading colleagues were very pleased to receive the minister at the opening ceremony of the center. Dr. Alfalah stated that “the services of the cardiac center will indeed speed up the treatment process for patients and increase the capacity of treatment by accepting more cases and thus leading to an integrated healthcare treatment in a variety of disciplines”.

In addition, Dr. Alfalah added “the center is looking forward to be a reference for all cardiac catheterization procedures as we are assuming that the number of surgeries would reach up to 3,000 per year”.

Moreover, the cardiac center is a great addition to KSMC’s services due to the demand and increased rate of heart strokes within the community which is considered life threatening. In addition to the developed cardiac services of the center, there is also a specialized outpatient clinic, an interventional cardiac section, and an advanced cardiac lab to preform interventional procedures.

Dr. Alfalah said the center seeks to increase the efficiency of cardiac services by accelerating the treatment process for patients through its highly trained medical staff.
